Update to the Tutorials Tab (October 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we improved the function of the Tutorials tab. What once used to link over to a video library containing all of our videos has been updated to the Video Tutorial Playlist where you're able to find more detailed categories that will link over articles with video tutorials.

Redesigning the Modal for Building Account Reports

If you've used this feature before, much of the functionality has remained the same. However, you'll notice a couple of key differences: 

  1. The location of how to sort the tasks you're pulling from your projects. This is now under "Sorting order".
  2. You can choose to included deleted tasks in your report by switching on the toggle under the "Time frame" section as shown in the screenshot below. Notice the information icon also underneath the "Time frame" section stating that "Full weeks start on Sunday and end on Saturday".

Update to account reports modal for CSV reports (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we improved the functions of our account CSV reports modal by now allowing the ability to choose whether or not to include deleted tasks in account reports. The ‘Deleted’ column in the CSV file will display the date/time stamp of when the tasks were deleted.

Plans

Copy and Paste Tasks and Markups (October 2023)

Fieldwire now allows you to copy/paste your tasks and markups across different plan sheets on a project! With this update, you will also be able to copy/paste multiple markups and tasks at once across plans on the same project. Markups can even be copied across different projects! This can be helpful for you if you have similar markups on multiple plans, or if you are working with multiple rooms/floors that may need the same markups.

Note: Tasks and all hyperlink markups cannot be copied across different projects because they refer to other objects within the project that might not exist in a different project.

[Android] New Menu Options for Sharing Plan Sheets (November 2023)

Up until this point, sharing plan sheets from an Android device could only be done via the "Export Cropped Plan" option. This has been replaced by two new options: "Share crop plan" and "Share plan link". Choosing "Share crop plan" allows you to crop your plan, then send it via email to a recipient. "Share plan link" generates a unique link that you can then send to a stakeholder. The goal here is to make sharing information from Fieldwire with colleagues faster and easier than ever!

[iOS] Share Plans, Cropped Plans, and Photos via URL (November 2023)

Previously when sending a plan sheet, cropped plan sheet, or photo it will be emailed to the recipient and opened in the email. Now when you’re viewing a plan sheet on your mobile device, you’re able to share a link that will take anyone that is currently on the project directly to the linked plan sheet.

Addition of Mechanical and Plumbing markup symbols (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we added Mechanical and Plumbing markup symbols to be used across your plan sheets. These are in addition to the previous five other markup symbol options.

Addition of filled shapes as markup tools (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we added filled shapes as new options to the markup toolbar. The new filled shapes will automatically default to 25% opacity and can be adjusted by editing the markup details. Currently, these options are only available on the web of Fieldwire but you can create a filled shape in the mobile app by adding an outlined shape to your plan sheet, then long press on the shape that was just created and go into the "Details" where you can select enable/disable the "Fill" option.

Tasks Tab

Improve configurable settings for CSV task reports (November 2023)

A highly requested feature has now been added to Fieldwire. Now when configuring your CSV task report you will now have the additional option of “Related tasks”, “Related forms”, “Checklists”, “Messages”, “Locations”, “Tags”, and “Deleted items” as checkboxes in the CSV task report builder.

[iOS] Share task link or task content via URL (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire for iOS, we added the option to share tasks via URL and you’re also able to send the task content which will provide a text description of what has occurred within the task as well as a link directly to the task. Now when sharing a task or task content you can provide a direct link to the exact task to anyone who is currently on the project.

We also rolled out similar functionality for Android - the option to share tasks via URL is now available to you! Long-press on a task to see the new menu options, or tap to open the desired task and then select the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. Choosing "Send task content" will provide a text description of what has occurred within the task, as well as include a link for that specific task. Now when sharing a task or task content, you can provide a direct link to the exact task to anyone who is currently on the project.

Specifications

Improve identification for Specification files similar to CSI format (September 2023)

Another recent update to Fieldwire improved our Specifications callouts for files uploaded to the Specifications tab that contain 4 or 5 digits similar to the CSI MasterFormat. Now when uploading Specifications to Fieldwire that only contain 4 or 5 numbers (similar to the CSI MasterFormat), Fieldwire will automatically call out the sections and titles.

Context menu for Specification hyperlinks (September 2023)

Working with Specification hyperlinks on plan sheets is now easier than ever! Simply right-click on a Specification hyperlink to view and select an action from the menu: View Markup Details, Duplicate, Move, or Delete.

If the wrong hyperlink is placed and you wish to delete it, you can also use the "Undo" button from the toolbar on the left side of the screen to remove it.

Reduce the loading time for Specifications (November 2023)

When projects have more than 50 specifications, the project will only load the first 50 until you scroll down the page. This significantly reduces the amount of time it takes for the table to load when you first visits the tab!

Forms

Forms Tab Redesign (October 2023)

If you are a Business or Business Plus subscriber, you will notice some recent changes to the Forms tab. With these changes, the Forms tab will be easier to navigate, and you will be able to view the information you need as well as access the forms you're looking for quickly and efficiently. These changes allow us to modernize the technology behind the Forms tab, which will create an all around smoother and more performant experience for our users!

"Created By" field in Form details (September 2023)

Click on any form within the Forms tab, and in the info/detail section at the top of the document, you'll see the "Created by" field. The name of the user who originally generated the form is auto-populated by our system and cannot be modified within the project, making it a source of truth for you and your team.

[iOS] Localize Date format in Forms for CZ / DE / FR / IT (October 2023)

Now when viewing or creating a Form, RFI, Submittal, Plan Markup, Photo, or Tasks with the Italian, Czech, German, or French language enabled on your iOS device it is now going to follow the DD/MM/YYYY format.

Updates to the "Actions" menu in the Forms tab (October 2023)

Although a relatively minor change, the verbiage for "Delete" in the drop-down menu of the Form Templates view has been updated to "Delete forms". This is intended to be more definitive and clear as to what that action entails.
Similarly, the "Duplicate forms" option has been removed from the Actions menu in the Form Templates tab. This is still available in other views (e.g. any of the individual form template folders).

Display message when users exceed the Forms export limit (October 2023)

The highest number of Forms that can be exported from your project at one time is 250. Previously, if you attempted to export more than that, an email notification would be received stating that the export exceeded the limitation. 

This email notification has been replaced by an in-app message titled "Export limit exceeded". The improvement is meant to be a more efficient means of communicating the issue (and its resolution)!

Limiting Users to Batch Duplicating 50 Forms at a Time (November 2023)

When duplicating forms on the web, a maximum of 50 forms can be duplicated at a time. This is meant to improve performance on the Forms tab when duplicating forms.

[iOS] Share Forms via URL (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we introduced a new way to share Forms. Now on the iOS app, you will have the option to share a form via. URL using the “Share form link” button which will create a unique URL that will link directly to the Form sheet in the project. Keep in mind though that the person(s) you send the link to will need access to your Fieldwire project in order to view the form.

This is also a new feature for Android! Using the “Share form link” button will create a unique URL that will link directly to the Form sheet in the project. The recipient of your link will need access to your Fieldwire project in order to view the form.

Change width of long text columns in Forms tables (November 2023)

Previously when creating a form table with short text and long text columns included the long text columns were the same width as the short text columns. Now when having a form table with short and long text entries included the long text entries will be 2 columns wide.

Addition of a search bar for Custom List input fields in Forms (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we improved the Custom List input fields within Forms. Now when viewing a form in an editable status (ie. the form displays a “yellow dot” in the status column) you’ll now be able to click into a Custom List entry type and search for items on the custom list. When a Form is not in an editable status (ie. the form displays a “green dot” in the status column) you will not be able to interact with the Custom List entry.

Change Orders are now available for Business Plus customers! The Change Orders module is the newest addition to Fieldwire's suite of Project Management tools, and it integrates with other parts of Fieldwire allowing you to have a single source of truth for agreed scope changes, faster data gathering from relevant parties/stakeholders, faster approval process, etc.

Edit the name of Change Orders in Draft Status (October 2023)

After drafting your change order, you can click the pencil icon to update the name of the document as needed!

Ability to delete Change Orders in Draft Status (October 2023)

Change orders that are still in "Draft" status can also be deleted by clicking the "Actions" drop-down menu and selecting the relevant option.

Void Rejected Change Orders (November 2023)

If a change order is rejected, you have the option to void it (or create a revision).

Edit Submittal Details outside of Draft status (September 2023)

Now any user in the Submittals' creator's Company or a user in the assignee’s Company is able to update the Submittal details such as Type, Lead time, On-site date, and more in any status except “Void”. Previously you could only edit a Submittal when it was in the Draft status.

Include RFI hyperlinks in 'undo' actions (October 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, any RFI hyperlinks will be included in undo actions. Now when you have included a hyperlink directly to your RFI on a plan sheet and you move, delete, or add the RFI and click the undo button the RFI hyperlink will now be affected.

Enhance Lead Company's ability when "responding on behalf" during "Submit for Review" flow (October 2023)

Prior to this enhancement, users who were not a part of the Lead Company were able to "Respond on behalf" for Submittals in the 'Pending approval' status. Now, only users in the Lead Company are able to do this, which allows for greater control for the Lead Company.

Performance Improvements


Ability to sync and download content while the App runs in the background (iOS) (October 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we have introduced the ability for Fieldwire to sync content while the app is running in the background of the device. Previously you'd need to have the Fieldwire app open and on the screen for information to sync content. Now when a device has a stable network connection, enough free storage space, and the Fieldwire app running in the background content will automatically sync content to/from the Fieldwire app.

 

Note: Please ensure “Background App Refresh” is enabled under the Fieldwire app within the settings of the device to enable background syncing.

When you sync a new project to your Android device, project resources (such as plan files, attachments, photos, etc.) all begin downloading at the same time. This method speeds up the process of syncing projects!

Improve Loading Times for Forms (November 2023)

In a recent update to Fieldwire, we released a performance improvement that makes forms open up faster on the web app. This reduces the time from when you click on a form in the table view to when the form opens and you can view its contents, ultimately speeding up your process and the amount of time it takes to begin filling out the form.
