Overview
While Fieldwire is designed to support any size project, large or small, we do provide recommended guidelines for the amount of content in a single project.
The guidelines below aren’t strict limits, so they can be exceeded; however, following these guidelines helps ensure optimal performance for all devices that you use to access Fieldwire.
For reference, on a mobile device, a single average-sized floorplan uses around 6 mb of mobile storage space. This means that 1000 plans on a project can fill around 6 gb of mobile storage space. (For reference, this article contains more specific info: Does my mobile device have enough storage space for Fieldwire?)
Recommended Content Thresholds (Per Project)
Plans (excluding versions) | 10,000 floorplans in a project |
Specifications | 1,000 specifications in a project |
Tasks | 100,000 tasks in a project |
Photos | 100,000 photos in a project |
Forms | 10,000 forms in a project |
Files | 10,000 files in a project |
3D Models | 100 3D models in a project |
RFIs | 1,000 RFIs in a project |
Submittals | 5,000 submittals in a project |
Change Orders | 5,000 change orders in a project |
Again - these aren’t strict limits, but recommended guidelines. If your project exceeds these thresholds, consider the following:
- Split one large project into several projects based on the floor, phases, building, team, etc. (How to Create a Project and Use the Project Dashboard on Web). If you consistently exceed the thresholds, consider creating project templates that reflect project phases or disciplines; our article How to Create Project Templates & Clone Projects contains instructions on how to do this!
- Reduce the time it takes for tasks to automatically archive within the Project Settings tab: The Project Settings Tab on Web and Mobile
- You can optimize mobile performance by reducing the number of plan revisions that will be stored on mobile from the Project Settings tab, as well.
