Overview
Fieldwire users on a Business or Business Plus subscription have the option to set up integrations between their Fieldwire account/projects and various third-party platforms, including Docusign. This integration will allow customers to send their forms to Docusign for signature. The Docusign integration with Fieldwire has a few unique setup requirements compared to other integrations. In this article, we’ll walk through what makes the integration different and how to get started.

Demo Video: Connecting Fieldwire to DocuSign
Setting up a Connection to Docusign
As mentioned above, connecting Fieldwire to Docusign is different from how we integrate with other apps like Google Drive or SharePoint. Before trying to connect with Docusign, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct account and project permission levels in both Fieldwire and Docusign.
To create the connection, you’ll need the following:
- A Fieldwire account with proper permission levels
- A DocuSign account with proper permission levels
To connect Fieldwire to Docusign, do the following:
- In Fieldwire, click on the Integrations tab.
- Select the Docusign app
- Click the blue Connect Docusign account button
- Enter a meaningful name to identify the connected DocuSign account and click Next
- If you're already logged in to Docusign, simply click the Connect button
- If you're not already logged in to Docusign, you'll need to enter your login credentials after clicking the Connect button
- Click Close
Setting up an Automation with Docusign
After establishing the connection between Fieldwire and Docusign, do the following:
- Navigate to the Projects tab
- Select the individual project where you want to establish the automation with Docusign
- Click on the cog icon in the bottom left-hand corner to go to the Settings tab
- Click on the Manage automations button on the right-hand side (you may need to scroll down slightly)
- Click + New automation
- Select Docusign under the App dropdown
- Select Request Fieldwire form signatures in Docusign in the Automation dropdown
- Click Create draft
- Click the Select form templates button
- Choose the form template you want to add to the automation
- Click the Add to automation button
The Automation in the Individual Form
After creating the automation with one (or more) of your form templates, do the following:
- Navigate to one of the form templates you created the automation with
- Open an individual form created from the form template
- Click the Send to Docusign button on the right-hand side of the form
- Doing so will export the information in the individual form as a PDF to Docusign as a new envelope
- Click the Send to Docusign button on the pop-up
- Note: Any changes made to the information on the form after it is sent to Docusign will not transfer to Docusign. So, it is extremely important to ensure that the information on the form is the final version before sending it to Docusign.
- Once the link has completed generating, click the View in Docusign link
- This link will redirect you directly to Docusign where you can view the form PDF as well as start to perform more actions, which will be covered in the next section
Utilizing the Automation within Docusign
To start using the form PDF and creating your envelope in Docusign, follow these steps:
- Click Continue
- Click the Add recipients dropdown and add the email address(es) you want to send the docusign to
- (Optional) If needed, you can add additional documents from your computer's files by clicking the Upload button (or dragging and dropping into that area)
- (Optional) You can select different types of envelopes under the Envelope Types dropdown
- Click Next
From here, you can start customizing your form with fields from Docusign. you can utilize standard Docusign fields such as Signature, Initial, Stamp, and a text box! These are just a few of the available options.
Once you're done customizing and finalizing your form with Docusign fields, make sure to click Send in the bottom right-hand corner!

What does the Docusign look like after clicking Send?
After clicking Send, the Docusign will be sent to the email address(es) you listed in the Add recipients section. When they receive the docusign in their email inbox, they'll be able to do the following:
- Click Review Document in the email
- Fill out the fields that were added to the form, such as the Signature, Initials, Stamp, and text box fields
- Click Finish once they are done filling out the required fields
After the document has been filled out and finalized by the recipient(s), you can go back to the form in Fieldwire and use the generated link. After clicking on the link and being redirected to Docusign, you will see that the document has been Completed. Lastly, if you click on the PDF, you will be able to see all of the fields that were added and completed by the recipient(s).
FAQ
Is the Docusign status tracked in Fieldwire?
No, you need to click on “Open in Docusign” to see the latest status.
I made a mistake, can I submit the form to Docusign again?
Not at this time. You will need to create a new form.
Can anyone click on the Send to Docusign button?
Anybody having the permission to change the form status in Fieldwire can create a draft envelope in Docusign, on behalf of the user having created the connection.
After I click on “Send to Docusign”, where is the document located?
The draft is stored in Agreements > Drafts, of the user having connected Fieldwire to Docusign.
Can anyone send the Docusign draft out for signature?
No, only a person having access to this draft in Docusign. By default this means the Docusign Admins, but Docusign permissions are flexible and can be adapted to suit your needs. You should reach out to your Docusign admin to get the necessary permissions.
I cannot access and send out for signature the form I sent to Docusign. What should I do? (see screenshot below)
You do not have the Docusign permission to view the form and send it out for signature. You need to ask a Docusign Admin, such as the one who connected Fieldwire to Docusign, to share these documents with you.
