Overview
Need to view your 3D models in the field? In the mobile version of Fieldwire, you can use specific gestures to navigate 3D models in the BIM viewer. This article will show you how!
Keep in mind, the 3D Models tab will not be displayed on mobile if there are no 3D models already uploaded to your project. This is due to the limited size of mobile device screens.
Note: To view larger 3D models, we recommend that your device has at least 4GB of RAM; if you are trying to view a more complex model on a device with less than 4GB of RAM, the Fieldwire app may crash.
To avoid this, try the following:
- Clear any background apps to free up memory.
- Split a single model into several smaller models to view on mobile.
- Upgrade your device's memory/RAM.

Object Tree on Android (Eyeball Icon)
The object tree is an interactive hierarchy that comes from the IFC file itself. It is a hierarchal list of all of the objects contained in the model organized in two ways: by 'Story' or by 'Class'. You can easily toggle objects to show or hide ones in certain areas (stories) or of certain types (classes). This will help you to find the objects and information about them more quickly. For example, if you have a 20 story building and only need to see the doors on the 5th floor, or only all of the pipes and fittings, you can easily hide the rest of the model to locate these objects.
Note: Currently, if you are unable to see the object tree, it may be that we're showing you an optimized model due to the specs of your device. Unfortunately, a lot of devices manufactured in the US have less powerful GPUs and are worse at displaying complex models.
