Overview & background
Fieldwire is constantly improving our platform thanks to feedback from customers like you, so we've reorganized, streamlined, and enhanced our main left Project menu on Fieldwire web. We'll soon make similar updates to our Fieldwire mobile app interfaces. All the functionality you're used to is still there and then some, and we've streamlined your views so you see even more of what you need, and none of what you don't, on each tab.
Project users, settings, and deleted plans/files
The 'People' page, where you can add or remove the users invited to your project as well as update their permissions, your 'Project Settings', and the 'Trash' page, where you can view and restore deleted plans and files, are now easily accessible via icons at the bottom of the left menu no matter which tab you're on:
Note: Only project Admins have full access to make changes in the People, Settings, and Trash pages. Project Members and Followers don't have access to Settings and Trash, but they can view (not edit) the Users page. Check out this article for a full breakdown of the permissions for each type of User.
Plans, Tasks, Photos, Forms, Files, 3D Models
We reordered the list of tabs in the upper-left to align with the order that our customers confirmed is most convenient day-to-day and streamlined the functionality in each:
Note: Forms and 3D Models are only available for users with Business or Premier subscriptions; you won't see those tabs if you currently have a Basic (free) or Pro subscription. Email email@example.com if you'd like to see a demo of these features and/or upgrade to use them!
You'll see Task Categories listed in the bottom of the left menu whenever you access this tab. Selecting any of them will display the number of those tasks in each of your plans in a small blue icon on the plans themselves, whether 'My tasks' (tasks assigned to you), 'Watched tasks' (tasks that have you listed as a watcher), 'All tasks,' or any of your custom Categories.
For example, these two plans have 3 of the 4 tasks currently in my 'Electrical' category:
And these two have 4 of the 19 tasks I'm currently Watching:
When you click to view an individual plan, you can continue to use the task category selectors on the left to view only those types of tasks, which are filtered to show on the plan itself and listed with additional details on the right side of the screen.
For example, this particular plan has 7 of the 32 total tasks currently in my project:
And the (same) plan has 1 of the 2 tasks in my Plumbing category:
You'll see the same Category selections in the left menu when you view the Tasks tab. Use them as a shortcut to view only the tasks in a particular category, or else be sure to select 'All tasks'.
For example, I have 32 total tasks in this project if I view 'All tasks,' but just two in my Plumbing category:
Within each category (or All tasks), you can click 'Filter tasks' in the upper-right to view more specific subsets of those tasks. Apply additional filters and you'll see only tasks in that category with those additional parameters. You can also use the blue task View options to see those tasks organized by priority (default Kanban view), on a Calendar, in a Gantt chart, or displayed in graphs.
Whenever you view this tab, you won't see any task categories listed in the left menu, since they're not relevant. Instead, you can view 'All photos', organized automatically into convenient folders according to the date they were taken in (or added to) Fieldwire. Or, you can click 'My photos' to view only the pictures you personally uploaded to Fieldwire or added to Fieldwire tasks:
In either tab (All or My photos), you can click 'Filter photos' in the upper-right to view subsets of photos with particular tags and/or that were uploaded to Fieldwire at particular times. If you're in My photos, you'll only see images with those additional filters that were added by YOU, no matter what. If you're in All photos, you can filter by tags, times, and by the other user(s) in your project who uploaded or added them to tasks:
Forms (Business or Premier Subscriptions)
You won't see any task categories listed in the left menu when you click to view your Forms tab. Instead, just like Photos, you can view 'All forms', organized automatically into convenient folders according to the templates they were made from. Or, you can click 'My forms' to view only the forms ASSIGNED to you, regardless of status and who is listed as the 'Creator':
Though I created some other forms, if I assigned them to anyone but myself, for example my Super, Bob, I will NOT see them in 'My forms', but I will see them in 'All forms':
In either tab (All or My forms), you can click 'Filter forms' in the upper-right to view subsets of forms pertaining to particular templates, creators, and/or dates they were created or last modified. If you're in My forms, you'll only see forms currently assigned to YOU with those additional filters, no matter what. If you're in All forms, you can filter by all those parameters AND/or the other user(s) who are currently assigned those forms:
Check out this article for more info on all the other great stuff you can do with Forms when you click 'New form', 'Actions,' or 'Manage Templates.'
Just like Photos and Forms, you won't see any task categories listed in the left menu when you click to view the Files tab. Instead, you can view 'All files', organized in completely customizable folders of your choosing. Or, you can click 'My files' to view only the files that you were the last Fieldwire user to update:
Though I uploaded some other forms, if the last user to update them was not myself but instead, for example my Super, Bob, I will NOT see them in 'My files', but I will see them in 'All files':
In either tab (All or My files), you can click 'Filter files' in the upper-right to view subsets of files with particular tags, filenames, and/or dates they were created or last modified. If you're in My files, you'll only see files that were last modified (updated) by YOU, no matter what. If you're in All files, you can filter by all those parameters AND by the other user(s) in your project who last updated them:
Check out this article for more info on all the other great stuff you can do with Files when you click 'New file', 'New folder,' 'Actions', or all the other files editing options we offer.
3D Models (Business or Premier Subscriptions)
This is a brand new module we've just released for Business and Premier subscribers, so it currently doesn't have any categories or filters. It's an absolute game-changer for teams that work with BIM, allowing you to upload and navigate 3D models on both Fieldwire web and mobile, as well as click-to-display metadata on any object or take measurements in 3 dimensions on the fly:
