Overview
ArcGIS is a powerful mapping and spatial analytics platform that helps organizations visualize and analyze location-based data. By integrating Fieldwire with ArcGIS, you can now see your tasks directly on an interactive map, giving you a clear geographic view of your projects. This integration uses GPS coordinates from the first photo attached to each task, ensuring pins stay consistent even as more photos are added.
With this capability, you can:
- Quickly locate tasks across projects using accurate latitude and longitude data.
- Access key task details at a glance, including title, assignee, category, status, dates, and a direct link to the task.
- View photo thumbnails linked to tasks for added context, without extra clicks.
This integration is designed for efficiency: one dot equals one task, reducing clutter and making navigation simple. Plus, it leverages the same reliable location data used in Fieldwire reports, ensuring consistency across your workflows.

- Editing tasks or data from ArcGIS Online is not supported
- A maximum of 4,000 tasks can be included per ArcGIS layer
Recommended setup tips
Rename the layer:
- To avoid confusion in the future, we recommend renaming the layer you just created to “Fieldwire Tasks” or something similar once it’s added to your map.
To do so:
- Click the 3 horizontal dots next to the layer you just created
- Click Rename
- Update the name
Show photo thumbnails in ArcGIS Online
You can display task photo thumbnails directly in ArcGIS Online popups:
- Click the layer
- Click the Pop-ups option on the right-hand side
- Select + Add content
- Choose Image
- Click the curly brackets icon next to the URL bar
- Choose Photo URL
- Click Done
If a task has multiple photos with GPS data:
- Only the first photo with GPS coordinates is used
- Note: If you want a different photo to appear in ArcGIS, you need to delete the first GPS-tagged photo in Fieldwire and then the next available GPS-tagged photo will be used instead.
Viewing tasks in Fieldwire
From ArcGIS Online:
- Click on the newly created task
- Click View on a task to open it directly in Fieldwire
Data refresh behavior
- Fieldwire refreshes integration data once per day
- You can manually refresh the data from Fieldwire at any time by doing the following:

This ensures that when Fieldwire updates the data, ArcGIS Online will display the latest version.
Troubleshooting
Tasks are not appearing on the map
- Confirm that the tasks include photos with GPS coordinates
- Check that the total number of tasks does not exceed 4,000 per ArcGIS layer
- Make sure the Fieldwire map URL was added as a CSV layer and referenced from the URL
Task data looks out of date
- Refresh the integration in Fieldwire
- In ArcGIS Online, verify that Automatically refresh the layer is enabled in the layer’s properties
- Manually refresh the map if needed
Photos are not showing in popups
- Ensure the popup is configured to display an Image using the Photo URL field
- Verify that at least one task photo includes GPS data
- Remember that only the first GPS-tagged photo on a task is displayed
I can’t edit tasks from ArcGIS Online
- This is expected behavior. The integration is read-only.
- All task edits must be made directly in Fieldwire
