Overview
Fieldwire users with an active TrueBuilt account and Fieldwire API access can set up integrations between their Fieldwire projects and the TrueBuilt platform.
The TrueBuilt integration has a few unique setup requirements compared to other integrations. Specifically, this integration supports structured data, such as labor items, cost codes, budgets, and plan sheets, rather than simple file syncing. Because of this, additional configuration and permissions are required.
In this article, we’ll walk through what makes the integration different and how to get started.
Note: This article focuses specifically on how to connect and configure the TrueBuilt–Fieldwire integration. If you’re interested in other integrations or general automation setups in Fieldwire, check out these articles:

Setting up a Connection to TrueBuilt
As mentioned above, connecting Fieldwire to TrueBuilt is different from how Fieldwire integrates with file-storage tools like Google Drive or SharePoint.
Before connecting the two platforms, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct account permissions and access in both systems.
To create the connection, you’ll need the following:
-
A Fieldwire account with API access
- For more information, see: Introduction to the Fieldwire API
-
A TrueBuilt account with admin access
- You must be an organization administrator in TrueBuilt to create and manage integrations.
-
A Fieldwire API key
- The API key must belong to a user with access to all Fieldwire projects you plan to sync.
-
Project access in both systems
- The same projects must be available to the integration user in Fieldwire and to the organization in TrueBuilt.
Establishing the Integration Workflow
The TrueBuilt–Fieldwire integration is designed to support the handoff from preconstruction estimating to field execution.
At a high level, the workflow looks like this:
- Projects are created or linked between TrueBuilt and Fieldwire
- Awarded estimates and bid packages in TrueBuilt are pushed into Fieldwire
- Fieldwire projects are populated with plans, tasks, cost codes, and budgets
- Field progress, photos, inspections, and task updates sync back to TrueBuilt for variance analysis and change-order workflows
What Data Syncs Between TrueBuilt and Fieldwire
When the integration is enabled, the following data can sync between systems:
| TrueBuilt | Fieldwire |
|---|---|
| Project | Project |
| Bid Package | Project |
| Plan Sheets / Revisions | Plan Sheets / Revisions |
| Labor Items | Tasks |
| Cost Codes | Cost Codes (Tier 1 and Tier 2) |
| Estimate Line Items | Project Budget |
Each labor item in TrueBuilt becomes a task in Fieldwire, with plan references, quantities, and execution context preserved.
