Overview
Fieldwire users on a Business or Business Plus subscription have the option to set up integrations between their Fieldwire account/projects and third-party platforms, including BuildTrace.
The BuildTrace integration connects Fieldwire project drawings with BuildTrace’s AI-powered change management system. BuildTrace monitors drawing revisions, detects changes between versions, and generates structured outputs such as draft RFIs and Potential Change Orders (PCOs) within the BuildTrace platform.
This integration helps teams move faster from drawing revisions to actionable insights by identifying what changed, who is impacted, and what potential cost or schedule risks may arise.
Unlike some integrations, BuildTrace performs analysis and generates outputs within its own platform using drawings synced from Fieldwire.
Note: This article focuses specifically on how to connect and configure the BuildTrace integration. If you’re interested in other integrations or general automation setups in Fieldwire, check out these articles:

FAQ
What is BuildTrace?
BuildTrace is an AI-powered change management platform for construction projects. It analyzes drawing revisions, detects changes, and generates structured outputs such as RFIs and PCOs to help teams manage scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
How does BuildTrace work with Fieldwire?
BuildTrace connects to a Fieldwire project as a Project Admin and monitors drawings in the Plans tab. When new revisions are uploaded, BuildTrace analyzes the changes and generates outputs within its own platform.
Will this change how my team uses Fieldwire?
No. Teams continue managing drawings and workflows in Fieldwire as usual. BuildTrace operates alongside Fieldwire to provide additional change analysis and draft documentation.
Do I need to manually trigger analysis?
No. BuildTrace automatically processes updates when new drawing revisions are published in the Plans tab.
How do I stop the integration?
To stop the integration, remove BuildTrace from the project:
- Go to the People tab
- Locate the BuildTrace user
- Remove the user from the project
This will revoke BuildTrace’s access to project data.
