Overview
Benchmark Labs provides point-specific weather forecasting through its construction platform, SafeCast. The Benchmark Labs integration delivers hourly, 15-day weather forecasts for your Fieldwire project locations directly into Fieldwire, so site teams can plan around weather without leaving the app they already use.
Forecasts are generated for the exact coordinates of each Fieldwire project. Benchmark Labs compares over 30 global weather models (including the National Weather Service, ECMWF, and the German and Canadian models) and selects the most accurate one for each location and variable, then delivers the result as a PDF report uploaded directly to the project's Files section in Fieldwire. Reports can also be sent by email.
Customers who own on-site weather stations can connect that hardware to Benchmark Labs for further-calibrated, point-specific forecasts tailored to their exact site conditions.
This article explains how to connect Fieldwire to Benchmark Labs, what you'll receive once connected, and how pricing works.

Setting up the Benchmark Labs Integration
Unlike some Fieldwire integrations, the Benchmark Labs connection is configured from the Benchmark Labs website, not from Fieldwire's Integrations tab.
To create the connection, you'll need:
- A Fieldwire account with API access
- Used to generate the personal API token Benchmark Labs needs to load your projects.
- Introduction to the Fieldwire API
- Fieldwire projects with a defined location
- Each project you want forecasts for should have a latitude/longitude (and an address, so reports reach the right site managers) set up in Fieldwire.
- A Benchmark Labs account
- Created or activated at benchmarklabs.net/construction.
- A payment method
- Benchmark Labs bills monthly per active location through Stripe. A card is required to complete setup.
-
Optional: An on-site weather station
- Only needed if you want point-specific forecasts calibrated to your own hardware. Contact info@benchmarklabs.com to set this up.
To connect Fieldwire to Benchmark Labs, do the following:
1. Generate your Fieldwire API token
In Fieldwire:
- Open Account Settings
- Locate the API Token section
- Generate a personal API token
- Copy the token for use during setup
2. Go to the Benchmark Labs construction portal
- Visit benchmarklabs.net/construction and activate or sign up for an account.
3. Connect your Fieldwire account
- Paste your Fieldwire API token into the portal
- Select Load my Fieldwire projects
- Benchmark Labs will display all of the sites available under your Fieldwire account
4. Choose your active sites and report settings
- Turn on the projects you want to receive forecasts for
- Set the cadence at which you'd like to receive PDF reports (for example, hourly or daily)
- Optionally, turn on email delivery in addition to the PDFs uploaded to Fieldwire
5. Connect a billing method
- Benchmark Labs bills monthly per active location through Stripe. Add a card to complete setup.
Once connected, Benchmark Labs will begin generating forecasts for your active Fieldwire project locations.
How the Integration Works
Weather Reports in Fieldwire
For each active site, Benchmark Labs uploads an hourly, 15-day forecast PDF to that project's Files section in Fieldwire, in both metric and imperial versions. Reports refresh on the cadence you set, and previous versions are automatically moved to an archive folder so you can review how a forecast has changed over time.
If you turned on email delivery, the same reports are also sent to your inbox on that cadence.
Forecast Accuracy
Benchmark Labs ingests more than 30 global weather models and benchmarks them against one another—for example, the U.S. National Weather Service, the European ECMWF model, and the German and Canadian models—to select the best-performing model for each variable at your specific location. This typically produces significantly more accurate, site-specific forecasts than a single general-purpose weather service.
Virtual Locations vs. On-Site Weather Stations
Benchmark Labs supports two ways of generating forecasts for a project:
- Virtual location (no hardware required): Using only the latitude and longitude of your Fieldwire project, Benchmark Labs returns hourly forecasts benchmarked across multiple weather providers for that exact point.
- On-site weather station (customer-owned hardware): If your site has its own weather station, Benchmark Labs can incorporate that station's live data to further calibrate and refine forecasts for your exact conditions. Benchmark Labs connects to more than 14 weather station hardware providers. To set this up, contact the Benchmark Labs team at info@benchmarklabs.com.
Site Managers and Users
Site managers and other users receive the forecast reports for the locations they're assigned to in Fieldwire. To make sure the right people get the right reports:
- Confirm site managers and users are assigned to the correct project locations in Fieldwire
- Confirm each project location has an address associated with it
Pricing
Benchmark Labs pricing is based on active locations. You can turn projects on or off at any time from the Benchmark Labs portal, and you're billed monthly per active location through Stripe. Point-specific forecasting with an on-site weather station is available as an upgrade. Contact info@benchmarklabs.com to learn more.
Current Limitations
- The integration is configured from the Benchmark Labs portal rather than from Fieldwire's Integrations tab.
- Weather data is delivered as PDF reports uploaded to Fieldwire (and optionally by email), rather than as a live in-app dashboard within Fieldwire.
- Forecast delivery to individual site managers depends on correct user assignment and address setup within Fieldwire.
- Connecting an on-site weather station requires contacting the Benchmark Labs team directly.
FAQ
What is Benchmark Labs / SafeCast?
Benchmark Labs is a point-specific weather forecasting company. SafeCast is its construction platform, built to improve worker safety, protect assets, and optimize weather-sensitive operations like concrete pours and equipment handling.
How does Benchmark Labs work with Fieldwire?
Once connected, Benchmark Labs generates hourly, 15-day weather forecasts for each of your active Fieldwire project locations and uploads them as PDF reports to that project's Files section, on a cadence you choose.
Do I need to own a weather station to use this integration?
No. Benchmark Labs can generate forecasts using only your project's latitude and longitude. If you do have a weather station on-site, Benchmark Labs can incorporate its data for even more precise, site-calibrated forecasts.
Where do I find my weather reports?
Reports are uploaded to the Files section of each active project in Fieldwire, in both metric and imperial versions. Older versions are automatically moved to an archive folder.
Will every site manager get the correct forecast?
Site managers and users receive reports for the locations they're assigned to in Fieldwire, as long as those locations have an address associated with them and the users are correctly assigned to those locations.
Will I need to pay a fee for this integration?
Yes. Benchmark Labs bills per active location on a monthly basis through Stripe. You can turn locations on or off from the Benchmark Labs portal at any time.
Who do I contact about this integration?
Reach out to the Benchmark Labs team at info@benchmarklabs.com for setup help, questions about connecting an on-site weather station, or general support.
