Overview
Fieldwire integrates with Holdpoint, a platform that links assets on a project to their test and inspection evidence. Completed inspection forms and verified tasks in Fieldwire can be imported into Holdpoint as evidence and linked to the assets they cover.
The integration creates a connected workflow between field execution in Fieldwire and asset verification in Holdpoint. Fieldwire remains the system of record for field execution, while Holdpoint uses completed inspection and task documentation to show what has been proven, what is missing, and what may be blocking energization or owner acceptance.
The integration is one-way. Holdpoint reads eligible information from Fieldwire, but does not create or change anything in Fieldwire.
This article explains how to connect Fieldwire to Holdpoint, link projects, how completed inspection forms and verified tasks are imported, how Fieldwire items are matched to assets in Holdpoint, and how subsequent changes in Fieldwire are handled.

Setting up a Connection to Holdpoint
To connect Holdpoint and Fieldwire, you'll need:
- A Holdpoint account
- Access to the relevant Fieldwire project
- A Fieldwire API token
Connecting Holdpoint and Fieldwire requires a Fieldwire API token. The token is entered in Holdpoint and allows Holdpoint to access the Fieldwire projects available to the associated Fieldwire user.
Generate a Fieldwire API token
- Sign in to Fieldwire.
- Navigate to Account > API > Manage tokens.
- Generate an API token.
- Copy the API token.
Note: As a best practice, use a dedicated Fieldwire user that can access only the projects that should flow into Holdpoint.
Connect Fieldwire in Holdpoint
- Sign in to Holdpoint.
- Navigate to Settings > Connections > Fieldwire.
- Click Connect Fieldwire.
- Paste the Fieldwire API token.
Holdpoint automatically detects whether the connected Fieldwire account uses the US, EU, or Canada region.
Link the Fieldwire project in Holdpoint
- In Holdpoint, select the Fieldwire project you want to connect.
- Select the corresponding Holdpoint project.
- Link the projects.
The Fieldwire project is now linked to the corresponding Holdpoint project.
Tip: Add an Asset ID field to Fieldwire inspection form templates so completed forms can be linked to the correct asset in Holdpoint.
How the Integration Works
Once the Fieldwire and Holdpoint projects are linked, Holdpoint checks Fieldwire approximately every five minutes and retrieves changes since the previous sync, within Fieldwire rate limits.
Eligible completed inspection forms and verified tasks are imported from Fieldwire into Holdpoint as evidence and linked to the assets they cover.
Completed inspection forms
Completed Fieldwire inspection forms are exported as PDF files together with their attached photos and imported into Holdpoint as evidence.
A form counts as complete when it reaches a finished status, such as Closed, Approved, or Completed. If a form template does not have a finished status, its last status is used. Rejected or void statuses do not count.
Verified tasks
Fieldwire tasks in the Verified status are exported as task report PDFs and imported into Holdpoint as evidence.
Holdpoint uses the asset ID in the task name to link the task report to the corresponding asset.
How Fieldwire Items Are Matched to Assets
Holdpoint uses asset identifiers in Fieldwire forms and tasks to determine which Holdpoint asset the imported evidence should be linked to.
Match using an inspection form field
Holdpoint can use an asset identifier entered in a Fieldwire inspection form field. Supported field names include:
- Asset ID
- Asset
- Asset Tag
- Equipment ID
- Cable ID
- Tag
The field used for matching can be configured for each project link. Multiple asset IDs can be listed in the field when separated by commas.
Match using the form or task name
Holdpoint can also match an item when an exact asset ID appears in the form or task name. For example, a form or task named Megger test CAB-0012 can be matched to the asset CAB-0012.
Items that cannot be matched
Holdpoint does not guess which asset an item belongs to. An item is placed in the Needs review list if it does not name a known asset or if the identified asset ID exists in more than one package.
The item displays a reason for requiring review and can be retried after the issue is corrected.
What Syncs Between Fieldwire and Holdpoint
Fieldwire → Holdpoint
Holdpoint reads or imports the following information from Fieldwire:
- Project list: Used to select and link a Fieldwire project to a Holdpoint project.
- Completed inspection forms: Imported as PDF files together with their attached photos.
- Verified tasks: Imported as task report PDFs.
- Form and task status information: Used to determine whether an item meets the requirements for import.
Imported evidence is linked to the corresponding Holdpoint asset when a matching asset identifier is found.
Holdpoint → Fieldwire
No data is written from Holdpoint back to Fieldwire.
The Fieldwire connection is read-only. Holdpoint does not create or change anything in Fieldwire.
How Changes in Fieldwire Are Handled
Changes to previously imported Fieldwire items can affect how the corresponding evidence is handled in Holdpoint.
Reopened forms or deleted items
If an imported form is reopened, or an imported form or task is deleted in Fieldwire, the corresponding evidence is withdrawn in Holdpoint.
When evidence is withdrawn:
- It stops counting as evidence
- Its asset links are removed
- An audit record is retained
- The imported file remains available but is marked as not counted
If a reopened form is completed again, it is imported again.
Forms edited after completion
If a completed form is edited in Fieldwire, Holdpoint imports the new version and replaces the previous version's asset links. The previous file remains available but is marked as replaced.
Imported file sources
Each imported file displays its Fieldwire source in the Holdpoint asset panel, evidence list, and share links. This identifies the originating Fieldwire item and its update information.
Large imports and interrupted syncs
Large backlogs are imported in batches. If a Fieldwire or network error interrupts a sync, Holdpoint resumes where it stopped. Items that have already been imported are not imported twice.
Current Limitations
- The integration is one-way. Information moves from Fieldwire to Holdpoint, but nothing is written from Holdpoint back to Fieldwire.
- Only completed inspection forms and tasks in the Verified status are imported as evidence.
- Items that cannot be matched to a known asset are placed in Needs review rather than being automatically linked.
- If an asset ID exists in more than one package, the item requires review before it can be linked to the correct asset.
- Reopened forms and deleted forms or tasks no longer count as evidence in Holdpoint.
FAQ
What is Holdpoint?
Holdpoint is a platform that links assets on a project to their test and inspection evidence, helping teams identify what has been proven, what is missing, and what may be blocking the next phase of construction.
Does Holdpoint create or change anything in Fieldwire?
No. The integration is read-only. Holdpoint reads eligible information from Fieldwire but does not create or change anything in Fieldwire.
Which Fieldwire inspection forms are imported into Holdpoint?
Holdpoint imports forms that have reached a finished status, such as Closed, Approved, or Completed. If the template does not have a finished status, its last status is used. Rejected or void statuses do not count.
Which Fieldwire tasks are imported into Holdpoint?
Fieldwire tasks in the Verified status are exported to Holdpoint as task report PDFs.
How does Holdpoint know which asset an inspection belongs to?
Holdpoint can use a configured asset identifier field in the inspection form, such as Asset ID, Asset, Asset Tag, Equipment ID, Cable ID, or Tag. An exact asset ID in the form or task name can also be used.
What happens if Holdpoint cannot match an item to an asset?
