Question
Why doesn't Fieldwire identify or extract my submittal information from my specifications?
Answer
If Fieldwire is not identifying any submittal information to extract, there could be a few reasons why:
- Your specifications do not list any submittals (for example, the table of contents, or procedural sections).
- If we are able to identify sections, we then look for a chapter of the section to read “PART 2”. If we do not identify a “PART 2”, we will not recognize any submittals.
- Here is an example of a document that has the criteria listed below, but does not contain “PART 2”.
- Here is an example of a document that has the criteria listed below, but does not contain “PART 2”.
- Once we recognize “PART 2”, we then look for a heading that reads “SUBMITTALS”. We will also identify this heading if there are additional words surrounding “SUBMITTALS”.
- If you have an example document that contains a "PART 2", but does not have a header that reads “SUBMITTALS”, please contact us at support@fieldwire.com.

- Underneath the “SUBMITTALS” heading, we will extract an individual line item from every bullet that is 1 indentation deeper than “SUBMITTALS”. If there are additional bullets that are 2 indentations deeper than “SUBMITTALS”, they will be included with the bullets that are 1 layer shallower.
- Example: the below document will produce the following results. Each number below signifies a separate submittal item:
A. Product Data: Submit Manufacturer's Specifications, design data, and installation
instructions for each type of cold-formed metal framing product and accessory specified or
indicated.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit Drawings showing layout, dimensions, and construction details.

C. Certificates:
-
Submit Mill Certification (signed by steel sheet producer or test reports from a
qualified independent testing agency) with shipment to verify chemical
composition, yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and coating thickness.
Include listing of applicable ASTM standards specified in this section and
comparison of ASTM requirements to actual materials provided to jobsite. -
Submit Manufacturer's certification that products furnished meet or exceed the
specified design requirements.
