Feature Deprecated - Project Cloning
Project cloning was removed from Fieldwire on March 2, 2026.
Cloning has been replaced by Project Templates, which offer more flexibility and control over your project setup. To create new projects based on an existing structure, see link: How to Create Project Templates
Overview
Project cloning is no longer available in Fieldwire. Previously, cloning allowed you to copy key project settings and structure. This functionality has now been replaced by Project Templates, which provide a more powerful and consistent way to create new projects with predefined settings.
If you previously relied on cloning, we recommend creating a Project Template based on an existing project so you can continue using a similar workflow going forward.
Cloning Projects (Deprecated)
Project cloning allowed users to create a new project using the structure from an existing one. This included categories, custom task statuses, people, checklists, reports, locations, tags, form templates, folders, and various settings.
This feature did not duplicate project data such as tasks or plan markups.
Cloning has now been replaced with Project Templates, which offer the same benefits and more control. To create new projects based on an existing setup, please refer to Project Templates: How to Create Project Templates.
Alternative: Use Project Templates
Project Templates fully replace the project cloning feature. Templates allow you to define project structure once and reuse it across all future projects.
