Share a Task
When viewing an individual task on your mobile device, you can click on the 'Share' icon in the bottom right-hand corner (iOS), or the 3 dots at the top (Android), which provides you with options on how to share that task with others. You can leverage the 'Share link' option, which allows you to shares a direct link to that task. On a Pro or Business subscription, you can also use the 'Export task as PDF' button and 'Email' button.
iOS | Android |
Choosing the 'Email' option will bring up several different apps, one of which, as in the example below, is 'Gmail'. You can also choose to send the task link via other methods including other mail or messaging apps.
iOS | Android |
Once you've selected the app, such as Gmail, you'll be redirected to where you can email all the of the task information to the recipient.
iOS | Android |
If you select the 'Export task as PDF' button, this generates a PDF of the content in that specific task that you can then annotate and markup (iOS only) before you share it.
iOS | Android |
Like the 'Email' option, the 'Share link' option will also bring up several different apps.
Once you've selected the app, such as Gmail, you'll be redirected to where you can email a direct link to the task. Keep in mind though that the person(s) you send the link to will need access to your Fieldwire project in order to view the task.
iOS | Android |
Note: Whether or Android or iOS, you can email task information to any email address, even if they are not a user of your Fieldwire account/project. Each user can send no more than 50 Task Emails per day. If you exceed this limit, you will not be able to send another task email until 24 hours have elapsed since the 50th email was sent.
Delete a task
iOS
On iOS, simply select on the task you want to delete, click the "Edit" button in the upper right-hand corner, scroll down, and click "Delete task":
Alternatively, you can click on the 'Share' icon in the bottom right-hand corner to Delete a Task:
Android
To delete a task click the upper three dots and choose Delete Task.
Note: If you delete a task from your project, you have the ability to restore that task from the Trash tab (Web) within 30 days of deleting it. If it has been more than 30 days and you have a premium Fieldwire account, you are able to use our built-in task importer feature to recreate any tasks that may have been deleted in error.
Swiping to Change Task Status
When viewing tasks on their devices, users can now swipe to change task statuses. Fieldwire used to have this functionality only on iOS, but it needed to be altered due to the release of Custom Task Statuses. Nevertheless, the ability to swipe to change task statuses is back!
When swiping to the right (-->), you will be changing the task status to "Completed" or your version of it if you are utilizing Custom Task Statuses. When swiping to the left (<--), you'll see a pop-up where you'll be able to choose which status you'd like to change that task to.

View Tasks Associated with a Plan
iOS
You can view the Tasks that are associated with the Plan you are viewing by clicking on the list icon on the top right. Once you click on this icon you will see all the Tasks associated with that Plan.
Android
When viewing an individual Plan on your mobile device, you can click on the 3 dots in the top right corner and select 'Tasklist' to see Tasks associated with the Plan.
Generate QR Code
QR Codes are a helpful way to provide users in the field instant access to Tasks. To generate a QR Code for a specific Task from the Mobile app:
- From the Fieldwire iOS or Android application, navigate to the desired Task you would like to generate a QR Code for
- Select the ‘Share’ icon from the bottom of the task view (iOS) or the 3 dots at the top (Android)
- Select ‘QR Code’
iOS | Android |
From here, the basic QR Code can be shared with someone nearby for quick reference. If you would like to download the QR Code from Mobile, select ‘Download as PDF’ from the basic QR Code view.
Once the PDF has been downloaded, select the ‘Share’ icon from the top right corner of the PDF to send it off or print directly from your mobile device.
Note: PDF Downloads of QR Codes are only available while the device is online with a connection to wifi or cellular data. Viewing a QR Code for a Task requires that the Task has previously been synced.
Scan QR Code on Mobile
From your device's camera, scan the QR code to automatically open the linked item in the iOS or Android app. However, please note that there are some limitations to this:
- If you do not have access to the linked project or do not have the Fieldwire app installed on your mobile device, the link will open in the mobile browser.
- You are not able to create a QR code linked directly to a photo in the Photos tab as individual photos do not have a custom URL. Generating a QR code for a photo would just open the photos tab of the Fieldwire app.
- Opening a QR code linked to a specific file on the Files tab does not work on iOS or Android. Both mobile apps open the Files tab rather than the designated file.
- Links to Submittals and Specifications do not work.
